In 2019 year, AAVIL has aided more than 2,700 people living in remote areas in Laos with improved access to clean water and sanitary facilities. The provision of items to support feminine hygiene during menstruation is an additional outreach initiative in this area that is having a tremendous impact.
The community members partner in the program by providing much of the physical work in site preparation, construction of dams, water tanks and buildings, etc. The Rotary works hand-in-hand with the communities to make a difference.
These filters, as with the filters throughout the next three villages, were supplied by The Rotary Clubs of Burnaby and Ladner, BC, as well as many private donors from the Vancouver, Canada area. These students are posing with the filters for the school. Being a Sunday, the school was closed and the students were not in uniform.
